Wrapping up January 2020

This month felt like it went on forever. Finally, however, January is winding down, just as I am getting back to blogging. This is just a rundown of a few things that caught my eye this month.

The biggest celebrity news, of course, is the royal retreat of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. One of the most interesting pieces that came out of this news is the Buzzfeed article comparing the headlines Meghan and Kate Middleton got for doing the exact same thing. Now that Harry and Meghan are out, I hope royal reporters will instead focus on the work William and Kate are doing. Surely the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as future King and Queen, have projects they shepherded from the beginning and seen flourish in the last eight years, similar to Harry's work with Invictus Games or Meghan's work with the Grenfell community. Right? Right? Oh, and I look forward to reading more about Prince Andrew, as well, who is still a senior royal and who, unlike Harry, has not been stripped of his honorary military appointments and is still addressed as HRH.

'I do not like working too hard or too long. By the way, I do not like working at all.' The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski just wrote how a lot of us feel in an email interview with io9. Up until my medical issues landed me in the hospital last year, I was an enthusiastic worker. Instead of relaxing, I'd spend my purported rest days still working. I have, however, reached the point when I view work as a means to earn cash to live my life, and wish to live outside of it. If I didn't have bills to pay, I'd be traveling the world and perhaps writing when the mood hit me. I'd still blog. This is a labour of love. I wish I could make enough money from blogging to live on but to be honest, that is not the case.

The Last Kingdom wrapped filming the fourth season on October 2019. We are still waiting for news on when it will be available on Netflix. In the meantime, check out this helpful Den of Geek page for more information. The Last Kingdom is one of my favourite shows and I wish it got more attention and more viewers than it currently has. Here's Alexander Dreymon's lovely Happy New Year message. My coverage of The Last Kingdom can be found here.

I recently finished recapping the second season of Knightfall. I am still trying to decide which series to focus on next. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to tweet me.
